How To Wipe data/factory reset, Wipe cache partition and Wipe dalvik cache on Samsung Galaxy Smartphone?

Hi folks, this tutorial will help you to wipe data / factory reset, wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache on all of your Samsung Galaxy Smartphone.

Most of you who might have faced the Android boot loop may have tried to do the Wipe data/factory reset, Wipe cache partition or Wipe dalvik cache on your Samsung Galaxy Smartphone. It can be difficult to people those who are not that much techie. But don’t worry this time I have came with a detailed tutorial which will help you in doing Wipe data/factory reset, Wipe cache partition or Wipe dalvik cache in a step by step manner with screenshots on your Galaxy Smartphone.

The steps are divided into to two, one for unrooted Galaxy Smartphones and the other for rooted phones

Steps To Wipe data/factory reset, Wipe cache partition or Wipe dalvik cache on Samsung Galaxy Smartphone

Method-1 (for unrooted phones)

1. First you need to enter your Galaxy Smartphone into android recovery mode. To enter please press and hold “Vol Up“+”Home“+”Power” button at the same time and release the “Power” button once you see your phone model number.

Alternatively you can try the detailed steps given below to enter Android Recovery Mode;

Once you have successfully entered into the recovery mode you will get a similar menu like the one given below.

Here please navigate using the “Vol Up” and “Vol Down” buttons and press the “Power” button to confirm. Now navigate to “wipe data/factory reset” and press the “Power” button.

Once you press the “Power‘ button you will get the below menu. Now select the “Yes-delete all user data” and press the “Power” button again.

Screen Message

If you have successfully did the “wipe data/factory reset” on your Samsung Galaxy Smartphone then you will get the above screen with the message on bottom of the screen like given above saying;

Formatting /cache…

 

Data wipe complete.

2. Now you are going to do the  “wipe cache partition” on your Galaxy Smartphone. For that navigate to “wipe cache partition” using the volume keys and press the “Power” button.

If you have successfully wiped the cache then you will get a message like the one given below as shown in the screenshot above;

Now we can go to method no: 2 which is for the rooted Galaxy Smartpones.

Method: 2 (for rooted phones)

This steps can only be done on a rooted phone with clockworkmod recovery or similar.

1. Similar as in the above method you have to enter your Galaxy Smartphone into “Recovery Mode“. For that please press and hold “Vol Up“+”Home“+”Power” buttons at the same time and release the “Power” button once you see your phone model number.

Alternatively you can try the detailed steps given below to enter into Android Recovery Mode;

If you have successfully entered into the Android recovery mode then you will get a similar window like the one given above. Now navigate to “wipe data/factory reset” and press the “Power” button and you will get the below menu. Also in the latest version of clockworkmod recovery you can simply click the option, because it is touch supportive.

Wiping User Data

Now here select “Yes – wipe all user data” and press the “Power” button.

Once you did that you will get a message on the bottom of your phone screen like given below which is also shown in the screenshot above;

Data wipe complete.

2. Now we can wipe the cache partition on your Galaxy Smartphone. For that select the “wipe cache partition” on main recovery mode menu and press “Power” button.

Once you press the “Power” button you will get a warning screen like the one given below. Here please press “Yes – Wipe Cache“.

If you get the message on the bottom of your screen like given below then you have successfully cleared the cache. The same is shown in the screenshot given above.

3. Now we can wipe the dalvik cache. For that please select the “advanced” option in the main recovery mode menu and press the “Power“button and you will get the below menu. Here select the “wipe dalvik cache” and press the “Power” button.

If you have successfully wiped the dalvik cache on your Samsung Galaxy Smartphone then you will get messages on the bottom of your phone screen like given below;

Dalvik Cache wiped.
