Many of you might have already tasted the delicious Nougat on your Samsung Galaxy S7, as the OTA update is widely released and it's been a while. But today rather than going to the Nougat features and advantages we will be helping you to root your S7 running on this freshly baked firmware.

Please note that this method is compatible on Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930F, Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930K, Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930L, Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930P, Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930R4, Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930S, Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930T (T-Mobile), Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930V (Verizon) and Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930W8 running on Android Nougat 7.0 firmware only.

1. To start with please download the root file from the below given link and extract it to your PC desktop.

The extracted files will be similar like the one shown in the screenshot below.

2. Now In order to proceed with the root, you need to enable the "USB debugging" on your Galaxy S7. For that go to "Settings-> Developer options", (tap 7 times on Build Number under "About Device" if you don't find developer options. Once done the "Developer options" will be there under the "Settings" main menu). Now enable the "USB debugging" from the "Developer options" menu.

The detailed steps to enable USB debugging is explained in the below given link. Don't worry even if the procedure is for Marshmallow firmware, the procedure is almost same on Nougat.

3. Now please enable "OEM unlock". Please check the below article for detailed steps to enable OEM unlock.

4. Once the OEM unlock is enabled on your phone please switch it off and enter it into the "Download mode". To enter "Download Mode" please press and hold the "Power"+"Vol Down"+"Home" buttons until you get a warning screen. Once you get the warning screen please release all the buttons and press "Vol Up" button to enter into the "Download mode".

Kindly check the below given tutorial to get detailed info on entering "Download Mode". Don't worry even if the procedure is for Marshmallow firmware, the procedure is almost same on Nougat.

5. Now open the Odin.exe file with admin privileges and connect your Galaxy S7 using the USB cable with your PC. If the connection was successful you will get an "Added" message from the Odin window. If the connection is unsuccessful please reinstall the Samsung USB drivers for your device and try again.

6. Once the above steps are completed please click the "PDA/AP" button on the Odin application and select the "tar.md5" file which you have extracted to your PC desktop before.

When everything is as mentioned here, please click "Start" button in the "Odin" app to begin the rooting process.

When the rooting is completed your Galay S7 will reboot and a "Pass" message from the Odin app can be taken as a symbol for successful root.

I want to root my Galaxy S7 SM-G930V, but I can't get to the website to download the software and stuff that is needed to root. When I click on the link to go download it, the browser says it's unsafe to visit the site, or it says the link is no longer working. What is the trick to go retrieve the tools for rooting? Thanks.

"Used Odin to unlock the bootloader" ...I didn't understand that part. How did you unlocked the bootloader using Odin?

Hi there, when i start rooting the device , the last line it said it is secure check fail : recovery.

Any ideas how I can fix it?

You failed to mention your exact model number :-)
No probs...Is your phone's bootloader still locked, if that so you need to do that first also enable "OEM Unlock" from settings menu.
Reply Reply with quote
Yup. I did enable "OEM Unlock", it still show me the same text.

And there is a problem now is the phone keep restarting itself after it goes to the main menu.
I have tried the factory reset but it didnt work.

I think your phone's bootloader is locked. Please unlock it first to root it.

Thanks Thomas for the quick response.
I had done the oem unlock so perhaps was something else. I finally flashed with the firmware.
Regards

If you still want to root, the second method is little tricky, please follow below steps;
Do these exact steps, Do not miss.

1. Boot into recovery.
2. Do a data wipe (WIPE>FORMAT DATA) And Say "Yes"
3.Go to Reboot and Reboot back to recovery.
4.Download DM Verify Disabler https://build.nethunter.com/android-tools/no-verity-opt-encrypt/no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.2.zip
5.Copy in to the phone and flash it.
6.Go to Reboot and Reboot back to recovery.
7.Now Flash the nougat firmware for your device.
Finally Wipe Dalvik, Cache and and try the rooting steps again. Hope this helps.

I think it's not the good way, I haven't any problems with the official firmware. The problem is recent, I have installed root on this phone on an older version of Android and it's worked fine.

I made an update, I tried to root the phone again, Odin injection works fine, and when the phone restart, he ask me the classic unlock pin, not the sim pin, just the unlock pin, I wrote my code and it don't works. I tried everything, 0000, 1234 etc, but the phone is locked. I think it's a security upadate inclued on a software update who I installed..

I don't understand.

This is an unlikely issue, please try fingerprint and default password. If that didn't work try switching off your phone. After few seconds switch it back on.
If not working please try a factory data reset and wipe the Cache Partition. Please note that the last step will delete all your phone data.
If nothing works please try the below tutorial and try to change the password online.
