I have a Samsung S5 Active that was not updated since June of 2014. I went on ahead and "donated" was given the towelroot v.3. however, when I tried to download a message came up that "this phone isn't currently supported."
It appears that many people received this message - is this a hoax?

Actually the original firmware version is only supported. Also you don't need to donate anything to download the apk.

Sorry devices untill June 2014 will only be supported by Towelroot.

I managed to root my S5 Active (June 2015) with these instructions, and YES towelroot worked just fine.

Tried running this on a GS4 Active, I'm getting the "isn't currently supported" message as well (02DEC2014). Are there any other alternatives to towelroot available for the S4 Active on ATT?

The recent firmware update may have caused it.

I'v tried it several times on my at&t galaxy s5 active but it keeps saying "this phone isn't currently supported". Please help!

The recent update has removed the option to root it using towelroot. The reason you are getting this message is that you have recently updated your phone. But you can always try after some time as the towelroot will be updated soon.
